Wayne Newton: KABC Legends Series
November 8, 2014

A lot has come and gone since Wayne Newton first set the entertainment world on fire as a precocious, big-voiced six-year-old. When Elvis Presley was still driving a truck, Wayne almost ten years his junior had already sung before a president, toured with a Grand Ole Opry road show and released his first record.

While the Beatles were still scrambling for their early Liverpool gigs, Wayne, who was two years younger than John Lennon, was playing Las Vegas and appearing on the Jackie Gleason and Lucille Ball television shows. In a business that is, at best, volatile, and success sometimes short-lived, Wayne has performed live, at last count, to more than 40 million people and on television and record, to many times that number. He has epitomized the talent, glamour and energy that is Las Vegas-the entertainment capital of the world-for so long that he is called “Mr. Las Vegas.” And these days, having established himself both on television and in movies as a fine actor, he’s getting more attention than ever.

Legends of Bad Boy Records featuring Faith Evans, MASE,
Carl Thomas, & Total
November 21, 2014

With a career spanning over a decade in the music industry, Faith Evans has released three Platinum-certified albums (Faith, Keep The Faith and Faithfully), the Gold-certified The First Lady, and the holiday staple, A Faithful Christmas. Evans is a five-time Grammy nominee and winner for “Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group” in 1998 for “I’ll Be Missing You,” an homage to her late husband and hip-hop legend Notorious B.I.G.

When Mase's debut album, Harlem World, appeared in late 1997, it was an instant smash, spending its first two weeks of release on top of the Billboard album charts. It was a star-studded affair, naturally featuring Diddy (both rapping and producing) and a galaxy of guests. Mase new single “Nothing” features Eric Bellinger and risen to the  top of the charts.

It’s hard not to forget the trio Keisha, Kima and Pam of the 90′s girl group Total.  They were one of the first group’s signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy Records with hits like “Kissing You” and “Can’t You See.” They have reunited with new music and to perform the classics.

The once protιgι of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was the first heartthrob R&B songster on Bad Boy Entertainment. Thomas is best known for his #1 R&B smash “I Wish” from the album So Emotional, which debuted in the Top 20 on Billboard and was a critical and commercial success, selling nearly 2 million copies. He has returned to perform all his hits.

Chris Isaak
November 30, 2014

Singer/songwriter/musician/actor Chris Isaak makes his debut appearance on the Saban Theatre stage, and this hepcat should fit right in with the retro architecture at this spectacular venue.  Isaak’s music magically recaptures the brilliance of of the classic Sun sound, while also getting down to the heart and soul of his own deeply rooted musical identity.  In fact, the late Sam Phillips, the genius behind Sun Records, had this to say about Isaak, “very talented, and his music is so damned honest.  It’s incredible.”

Isaak’s music has appeared in scores of films and television shows, as has Mr. Isaak himself.  He starred in Showtime’s The Chris Isaak Show, and has appeared in numerous films, including Little Buddha, Twin Peaks, Married To The Mob, Silence Of The Lambs, and more.

Ghost Brothers Of Darkland County
December 4, 2014

The southern gothic, supernatural musical Ghost Brothers of Darkland County was written by celebrated suspense author Stephen King, with music by Grammy Award-winning John Mellencamp and produced by Grammy and Academy Award-winning T Bone Burnett. This extraordinary collaboration 16 years in the making is a haunting tale of fraternal love, lust, jealousy and revenge, performed by an ensemble cast of 15 actors and a four-piece live band, comprised of members of John Mellencamp’s band. The staging of Ghost Brothers is an amalgam of different styles – both old fashioned, resembling an old-style radio show, and yet, modern and unique in its interactive use of storytelling, music and singing to move the macabre Ghost Brothers story forward.  The story goes that Joe McCandless saw his two older brothers battle over a girl which ended in the unfortunate deaths of all three. Now as an adult, with two boys of his own, he’s watching an all too similar scenario play out before his eyes. Only one person knows exactly what happened the night of the tragedy.

STYX
January 23, 2015

STYX - Tommy Shaw, James “JY” Young, Lawrence Gowan, Todd Sucherman and Ricky Phillips (along with the occasional surprise appearance by original bassist Chuck Panozzo), have performed more live since ’99 than all of the previous years of its career combined. Two Super-Bowl appearances, Pollstar Box Office chart-topping tours with Def Leppard, Journey, Boston, REO Speedwagon, Bad Company (to name only a few), two more studio albums and no end in sight, STYX continues to conquer the planet, one venue at a time.

Spawned from a suburban Chicago basement in the early ‘70s, Styx would eventually transform into the virtual arena rock prototype by the late '70s and early '80s, due to a fondness for big rockers and soaring power ballads.

Mega hits include: “Fooling Yourself,” “Come Sail Away,” “Blue Collar Man,” “Blue Collar Man,” “Too Much Time On My Hands,” “Crystal Ball,” “Grand Illusion,” “Lady,” “Miss America,” “Renegade”…….

Golden Dragon Acrobats “CIRQUE ZIVA”
January 29, 2015

“This unique cirque spectacular showcases traditional Chinese acrobats who dazzle with amazing feats of athleticism, daring heart-stopping stunts and the grace of their centuries-old art form.” –Broadway World

Danny Chang and his Golden Dragon Acrobats continue their relentless, 30+ year US touring schedule of centuries-old Chinese art form. Since 1985, they remain the only Chinese acrobatic company touring year-round in the United States, and present over 200 performances annually. In 2005, their Broadway debut and seven-week run at the New Victory Theater earned two prestigious New York Drama Desk Awards nominations (Angela Chang for Best Choreography and Danny Chang for Most Unique Theatrical Experience).

Answering the new market demand from US presenters, producer Danny Chang restructured the Golden Dragon Acrobats in 1998 to form Asian Artists Productions, Inc. or AAPI. While the new company continued to produce and tour the Golden Dragon Acrobats, AAIP expanded to create theatrically elaborate, resident-shows like Circo Magnifico, Dream, Pagoda, Cirque D’or and others, each for a specific US market.

"Cirque Zνva" is newest touring group from AAIP. The large cast and spectacular set designs illustrate the best of Chang's brand of artistic merit, high production value, and solid commitment to cultural exchange. Of special note is Cirque Zνva Lighting Director Tony Tucci, the recipient of two B. Iden Payne Awards and Critics Table awards for lighting, with credits including the video “Baryshnikov, Dancer and The Dance” and 1996 Summer Olympics Cultural Olympiad showcase.
