Eve 6
September 3, 2015

The members of Eve 6 weren’t even legal drinking age when they were presented with their first platinum record. Thus, life came hard and fast at the members of SoCal pop-punk trio, whose meteoric success in the late ‘90s and early millennium ingrained their anthemic radio hits into the fabric of the lives of a whole generation.  The band issued the self-titled Eve 6 in 1998, attaining platinum success with hit singles “Inside Out” and “Leech,” the former capturing the #1 spot on the Modern Rock charts and crossing over successfully to Top 40 radio. More widespread recognition came with gold-selling sophomore effort Horrorscope (2000), which spawned radio gems “Promise,” “On The Roof Again” and the ubiquitous prom and MTV anthem “Here’s To The Night”.

The band made appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night With Conan O’Brien, and TRL with Carson Daly, with their videos in constant rotation on MTV.

Robert Randoph & The Family Band
September 10, 2015

Robert Randolph & The Family Band first gained national attention with the release of the album Live at the Wetlands in 2002. The band followed with three studio recordings over the next eight years—Unclassified, Colorblind, and We Walk This Road—which, together with tireless touring and unforgettable performances at such festivals as Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, won them an expanding and passionate fan base. Randolph's unprecedented prowess on his instrument (pedal steel) garnered him a spot on Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" list, and also attracted the attention of such giants as Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana, who have collaborated with him on stage and in the studio.

The new album, Lickety Split, features tunes that are close to the heart for Randolph, “My thing is really upbeat, uptempo with great guitar riffs, but also catchy choruses and lyrics.”

You’ll see all that and more when Robert Randolph & The Family Band take the stage at The Canyon.  The energy and excitement of their live performances is legendary!

John Hiatt & The Combo
September 24, 2015

American rock guitarist, pianist, singer, and songwriter John Hiatt has played a variety of musical styles on his albums, including New Wave, blues and country. Hiatt has been nominated for eleven Grammy Awards and has been awarded a variety of other distinctions in the music industry.  Hiatt is 40 years into his musical career, and along the way, his songs have attracted many other singers, through whom some have gained a wider world of fans via other artists’ versions —Rosanne Cash’s “Pink Bedroom” and most famously Bonnie Raitt’s hit version of “Thing Called Love.” And in recent years he’s done a series of shows with Lyle Lovett, “our little Smothers Brothers comedy show,” that’s brought out other spins on his art, though elements already familiar to those who’ve been there all along. Alternately bemused and profound, he’s a self-aware chronicler of both his own and others’ stumbles and epiphanies, the tales richer with each step forward.

Dark Star Orchestra – A Rare Acoustic Performance!
October 5, 2015

DSO fans are in for a special treat tonight, as the band performs acoustically – something they only do 3 to 4 times per year – and we are thrilled that they have chosen The Canyon to do so.

Performing to critical acclaim worldwide for nearly 15 years and over 2000 shows, Dark Star Orchestra continues the Grateful Dead concert experience. Their shows are built off the Dead’s extensive catalog and the talent of these 7 fine musicians. On any given night the band will perform a show based on a set list from the Grateful Dead's 30 years of extensive touring or use their catalog to program a unique set list for the show. This allows fans both young and old to share in the experience. By recreating set lists from the past, and by developing their own sets of Dead songs, Dark Star Orchestra offers a continually evolving artistic outlet within this musical canon. Honoring both the band and the fans, Dark Star Orchestra’s members seek out the unique style and sound of each era while simultaneously offering their own informed improvisations.

Dark Star Orchestra offers much more than the sound of the Grateful Dead, they truly encapsulate the energy and the experience. It's about a sense of familiarity. It's about a feeling that grabs listeners and takes over. It's about that
contagious energy... in short, it's about the complete experience and consistent quality show that the fan receives when attending a Dark Star Orchestra show.

Dan Finnerty caught America's attention as the foul-mouthed wedding singer in the box-office smash Old School, performing his now-infamous rendition of Total Eclipse of the Heart, as well as his appearance as the sleazy bat-mitzvah singer in Starsky &Hutch and again as the inappropriate wedding singer in the record breaking hit The Hangover.

What started as a drunken joke for Finnerty, singing I Am Woman at a karaoke bar has spiraled out of control into THE DAN BAND - a cult phenomenon that has garnered rave reviews from The New York Times, The L.A. Times, Variety, and Rolling Stone among others, and prompted Entertainment Weekly to dub it “The hottest ticket in Hollywood.”

THE DAN BAND plays to sold out crowds from Los Angeles to New York and has appeared on numerous shows including The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ellen, The Late Late Show, Last Call with Carson Daly, Last Comic Standing, The Guys Choice Awards and caught the attention of Steven Spielberg, who signed on to executive produce Dan's one hour concert special “The Dan Band: I Am Woman”, directed by McG.

The Winery Dogs
November 5, 2015

It would be easy to call The Winery Dogs a supergroup: Vocalist and guitarist Richie Kotzen made his mark with Poison and Mr. Big, bassist Billy Sheehan has been rocking for decades with Steve Vai, David Lee Roth, Mr. Big and others, and drummer Mike Portnoy was the co-founder of progressive metal superstars Dream Theater. But The Winery Dogs are so much more than a supergroup.

The Winery Dogs, are a cohesive, well-rounded classic-sounding trio with blazing songs that defy expectation.  The push-pull dynamic illustrates how The Winery Dogs toy with established styles and turn them into something special, complete with Sheehan’s acrobatic bass fills and Kotzen’s rapidfire solos, which help The Winery Dogs blend in a way that’s both instantly recognizable and utterly individual.

The Yardbirds
November 15, 2015

The Yardbirds, perhaps more than any other group, brought guitar pyrotechnics to rock & roll in the 1960s. By introducing Clapton, Beck and Page to the world, and giving them plenty of space to create, the band set the template not only for Cream, the Jeff Beck Group and Led Zeppelin (whose original moniker was the New Yardbirds), but for virtually every rock group featuring distortion, feedback and in-your-face electric-guitar virtuosity.

Three years after their 1992 induction into the Rock ‘N Roll Hall Of Fame, The Yardbirds re-formed, with founding members Dreja and Jim McCarty, and a new generation of exciting and talented music.  But what’s  most important, the sound remains distinctly and electrifyingly that of the Yardbirds we’ve all known and loved for years.

Zappa Plays Zappa
Dec 9, 2015

Zappa Plays Zappa continues a timeless musical legacy. He is both the modern face of Zappa music and the person who can bring it fully-formed into the future. The ‘Ahead of Its Time’ moniker frequently slapped onto Frank’s music is brought to life for modern audiences, who are still able to full-sensory witness the spectacular specimens of some of American music’s most original, unrepentant and boundlessly experimental canons, thanks to Dweezil and five other telepathic musicians.

Through artful reshaping & rekindling of his father’s timeless music, featuring Frank’s trademark incredibly complex compositions and perfect execution, Dweezil applies his talent to exposing, performing and shamelessly proselytizing music that literally is in his blood. This tour also celebrates ten years of Zappa Plays Zappa performing shows worldwide and of Dweezil proving his goal of forming a core band of previously unknown expert musicians capable to respectfully execute his father’s music; and winning them two Grammy Awards along the way.

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the release One Size Fits All in 1975, the five-member Zappa Plays Zappa recreate live the final studio album from Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention.

Dec 9, 2015

For the price of a fuzz pedal, learn techniques from the son of Frank Zappa.  Dweezil Zappa’s music camp, Dweezilla, has a motto: “Learn And Destroy.”  It refers to destroying the boundaries that confine music creativity.  At camp, students are in total immersion for 4 days of music instruction.  While on tour with Zappa Plays Zappa, Dweezil will be previewing some of the guitar concepts he teaches at camp in a special event prior to each concert.

“I transformed my guitar technique before starting Zappa Plays Zappa out of necessity to play my dad’s most sophisticated and challenging melodies.  I’ve found a lot of exciting new approaches to the guitar.  I started Dweezilla music camp as a way to share this information with guitarists.  I’m excited to present an opportunity to share thoughts on my approach to guitar with students of all levels before each show on tour.”

Judy Collins
February 26, 2016

Judy Collins has inspired audiences with sublime vocals, boldly vulnerable songwriting, personal life triumphs, and a firm commitment to social activism. In the 1960s, she evoked both the idealism and steely determination of a generation united against social and environmental injustices. Five decades later, her luminescent presence shines brightly as new generations bask in the glow of her iconic 50-album body of work, and heed inspiration from her spiritual discipline to thrive in the music industry for half a century.

The award-winning singer-songwriter is esteemed for her imaginative interpretations of traditional and contemporary folk standards and her own poetically poignant original compositions. Her stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell's “Both Sides Now” from her landmark 1967 album, Wildflowers, has been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Judy’s dreamy and sweetly intimate version of “Send in the Clowns,” a ballad written by Stephen Sondheim for the Broadway musical A Little Night Music, won "Song of the Year” at the 1975 Grammy Awards. She’s garnered several top-ten hits gold- and platinum-selling albums. Recently, contemporary and classic artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Shawn Colvin, Dolly Parton, Joan Baez, and Leonard Cohen honored her legacy with the album Born to the Breed: A Tribute to Judy Collins.
