Scott Bradlee & Postmodern Jukebox
November 9, 2014

Scott Bradlee first rose to prominence as a pianist working in the New York Jazz scene.  In looking for creative inspiration, he began reworking popular music as an exercise.  In 2009 he released “Hello My Ragtime ‘80s,” which incorporated popular music from the ‘80s with a ragtime-style piano.  But it wasn’t until 2012 that he would finally begin to gain popularity with his release of A Motown Tribute to Nickelback, a collaboration with local musicians which arranged Nickelback’s songs in the style of ‘60s R&B music.  Just last year he formed Postmodern Jukebox, a rotating group of musicians producing covers of pop songs in the styles of jazz, ragtime, and swing.  The group broke onto the public radar with their doo-wop cover of Miley Cyrus’s “We Can’t Stop”.

A John Waters Christmas
December 4, 2014

John Waters (Pink Flamingos, Hairspray, A Dirty Shame) performs an unforgettable night of holiday mischief with his critically acclaimed one man show, A John Waters Christmas.  Waters pokes fun at the holiday season with adult-appropriate humor, effectively “putting the X in Xmas,” developing a show for the open minded and slightly left-of-center audience.

Regarded as a shocking entertainer, John Waters carefully chooses his material and exploits it through a dirty lens. “It’s my obsession with Christmas: what I want for Christmas, what you should want, how to handle every holiday disaster,” Waters says.  His rapid-fire monologue explores and explodes the traditional holiday rituals and traditions as he shares his religious fanaticism for Santa Claus, and an unhealthy love of real life holiday horror stories.  Delving into his passion for lunatic exploitation Christmas movies and the unhealthy urge to remake all his own films into seasonal children’s classics, “The Pope of Trash” will give you a Joyeaux Noel like no other.

At the age of 73 the veteran singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer/bandleader is still making some of the most compelling music of his long and storied career.  It almost goes without saying that Merle Haggard is widely regarded as country music's greatest living recording artist.  A rugged individualist who simultaneously embodies and transcends the genre, Haggard is both a seminal superstar and an unrepentant outsider.  Over the course of a remarkably prolific five-decade career, he's consistently shown himself to be an uncompromising creative force, far more concerned with pursuing his iconoclastic vision than with meeting the expectations of the music-industry establishment.
Along the way, Haggard has scored no less than 39 #1 country hits; won various Grammy, CMA and ACM awards; become the only California-born artist in the Country Music Hall of Fame; been the only country performer ever featured on the cover of the jazz bible Downbeat; as well as the only man to be invited to perform at the White House and invited to serve time in San Quentin Penitentiary.

Many of music's best-known instrumental masters cite Holdsworth as that rare and shining voice—a legendary player who continues to push the outer limits of instrumental technique and the electric guitar's range of tonal and textural possibilities. Particularly during the 90s, Holdsworth has enjoyed the recognition so many musicians strongly feel he deserves, given that he has developed his career outside the big label mainstream and has consistently produced his own recordings with complete creative control since the mid-80s

The Dan Band
April 18, 2015

Dan Finnerty caught America’s attention as the foul-mouthed wedding singer in the box-office smash Old School, performing his now-infamous rendition of Total Eclipse of the Heart, as well as his appearance as the sleazy bat-mitzvah singer in Starsky &Hutch and again as the inappropriate wedding singer in the record breaking hit The Hangover.

What started as a drunken joke for Finnerty, singing I Am Woman at a karaoke bar has spiraled out of control into THE DAN BAND - a cult phenomenon that has garnered rave reviews from The New York Times, The L.A. Times, Variety, and Rolling Stone among others, and prompted Entertainment Weekly to dub it “The hottest ticket in Hollywood.”

THE DAN BAND plays to sold out crowds from Los Angeles to New York and has appeared on numerous shows including The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ellen, The Late Late Show, Last Call with Carson Daly, Last Comic Standing, The Guys Choice Awards and caught the attention of Steven Spielberg, who signed on to executive produce Dan's one hour concert special “The Dan Band: I Am Woman”, directed by McG.
