Temptations founder and leader Otis Williams keeps the music alive for 50 years!  The Temptations are one of the most iconic bands in the history of American music.  Indeed, they are an institution noted for their precise choreography and blend of R&B vocal sensibilities.  A continuous line up of 5 highly talented male singers working together as a vocal powerhouse has propelled the Temptations thru out their 50-year history. With a focus on the vocal ensemble, rather than a lead singer, 12 talented singers have come and gone thru the ranks of the band, and (founding original member) Otis Williams has continued to keep the Temptations sound alive and at the top of the charts.  The songs speak for themselves: “My Girl,” “The Way You Do The Things You Do,” “Get Ready,” “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg,” Losing You,” “Cloud Nine,” “Just My Imagination,” “Ball Of Confusion,” and so many, many more…over 30 Top Ten and #1 songs, and still counting!

Ty Herndon
May 12, 2016

Ty Herndon has always been all about the ties that bind. You feel it when he’s singing deeply moving No. 1 hits like “What Mattered Most” and “Living in a Moment.” You get it just as much when he’s goofing around with the audience between songs in concert making every attendee laugh. Even in a genre that already prides itself on relatability, he might be the king of connecting.

Now, with the release of Lies I Told Myself, his first country album in seven years, he’s bonding with fans in a new way. Lies I Told Myself stays true to the styles that made Herndon one of the top new artists of the mid and late 1990’s. There are some wrinkles and updates, as you’d hope. “I’m staying true to who I am and what I’m about as a singer,” says Herndon, “but also reinventing a little bit with sounds in the studio being current with what’s relevant on the radio today.”

Iron Butterfly
May 14, 2016

Iron Butterfly came bursting onto the music scene of the late 60s and early 70s with a sound that not only epitomized the hard attitudes of the youth of the day with its heavy drumming and bass lines, but also embrace more delicate aspirations through intricate guitar and keyboard overlays.  They toured with acts like The Doors, Jefferson Airplay, The Grateful Dead, Traffic, The Who, and Cream.  Their monumental LP, “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” featured the 17:05 minute side-long track that shook the entire music industry with its phenomenal reception.  “Vida” outsold every record in the history of recorded music within the first year of its release, and was awarded the music industry’s very first platinum album!  To date, the album has sold in excess of 30 million copies and remains an undisputed classic worldwide!

CoCo Montoya
May 15, 2016

Guitar One Magazine calls guitarist/vocalist Coco Montoya “the hottest southpaw in the blues” and raves about his “master touch and killer tone.” The Boston Globe succinctly states that Montoya’s music is “hot, blistering soul.” From his early days as a drummer to his current status as one of the top-drawing guitarists and vocalists on the blues-rock scene, Montoya earned his status through years of hard work and constant touring.

Montoya’s career began in the mid 1970s when Albert Collins asked him to join his band.  Collins took Montoya under his wing and taught him his “icy hot’ guitar style.  In the early 1980s John Mayall heard Montoya playing guitar in a Los Angeles bar, and soon after, asked Montoya to join the newly reformed Bluesbreakers.  He remained a member of the band for 10 years.  He also appeared with the Cate Brothers, and has released several solo albums.

Montoya is a self taught guitar slinger who plays with an emotional intensity few string benders posses.

The Yardbirds are more than a Rock band…they are an institution… which, in the brief period from 1963 to 1968, made an indelible mark on the “Shapes of Things” to come.

To the casual music fan, The Yardbirds are best known as the band that honed the skills of future “guitar gods” Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page; and for their slew of chart hits, including “For Your Love,” “Heart Full of Soul”, “I’m A Man”, and “Over Under Sideways Down”. Led by core members and songwriters Jim McCarty (drums), Chris Dreja (rhythm guitar/bass) and the late Keith Relf (vocals/harmonica), the band’s experimental explorations also provided the crucial link between British R&B, Psychedelic Rock, and Heavy Metal, while pioneering the use of innovations like fuzz tone, feedback and distortion.  Even their 1968 break-up set the stage for Rock ‘n’ Roll’s future…leading Jimmy Page to form the New Yardbirds, later re-christened Led Zeppelin.

In 2015, Jimi McCarty debuted the new touring line-up of The Yardbirds, consisting of guitarist Johnny A, bassist Kenny Aaronson, singerer / harpist / percussionist Mike Scaone, and guitarist / singer John Idan to rave reviews.  As Goldmine magazine stated, “the band’s hallmark of top-notch musicianship remains.  There are no passengers in this band.”

The Tubes
July 22, 2016

The Tubes will go down in the rock history books as one of the most exciting, in-your-face tight-knit group of musicians who epitomised the hilarity of popular American culture by making it into a the ultimate rock’n’roll extravaganza. Their live shows involved mock bondage rituals, simulated sex, 12-foot high rock stars by the name of Quay Lude singing ‘White Punks On Dope’, exploding televisions, chainsaws and an array of semi-clad dancers. Some say they were about 15 years ahead of Madonna, and light years ahead of the politically correct.

The Tubes have always managed to expose, enlighten and entertain audiences worldwide by combining art with trash, comedy with tragedy, and innovative rock theater with consummate musicianship.

Orianthi
September 15, 2016

Aussie female guitar virtuoso Orianthi was first discovered by Carlos Santana at the tender age of 14.  Since then she has been mentored by her idol, Steve Vai, signed a recording contract with a major record label, released the platinum single “According To You,” which was a worldwide hit, has appeared on stage with Carrie Underwood, was invited to be a part of Michael Jackson’s ill-fated “This Is It” concert series, work with Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), and more.

All these experiences have given Orianthi the freedom, credibility and confidence to make the kind of records she wants to make, and present concerts her way.  Her eclectic style and versatility belie an exciting and varied career that continues to grow and expand.

“At heart, Orianthi is a staggeringly dexterous player, capable of mastering next to any style and out shredding anyone” – Guitar Planet magazine.

He has received numerous awards including the Grammy Living Legend Award, NARAS Lifetime Achievement Award, Honorary Doctorate (Howard University), Kennedy Center Honors and the National Medal of Arts Award from the President of the United States. He has also been inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame.

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Robinson founded The Miracles while still in high school. The group was Berry Gordy’s first vocal group, and it was at Robinson’s suggestion that Gordy started the Motown Record dynasty. Their single of Robinson’s “Shop Around” became Motown’s first #1 hit on the R&B singles chart. In the years following, Robinson continued to pen hits for the group including “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me,” “Ooo Baby Baby,” “The Tracks of My Tears,” “Going to a Go-Go,” “More Love,” “Tears of a Clown” (co-written with Stevie Wonder), and “I Second That Emotion.”

The Miracles dominated the R&B scene throughout the 1960’s and early 70’s and Robinson became Vice President of Motown Records serving as in-house producer, talent scout and songwriter.

In addition to writing hits for the Miracles, Robinson wrote and produced hits for other Motown greats including The Temptations, Mary Wells, Brenda Holloway, Marvin Gaye and others. “The Way You Do the Things You Do,” “My Girl,” “Get Ready,” “You Beat Me to the Punch,” “Don’t Mess with Bill,” “Ain’t That Peculiar,” and “My Guy” are just a few of his songwriting triumphs during those years.

During the course of his 50-year career in music, Robinson has accumulated more than 4,000 songs to his credit and continues to thrill sold-out audiences around the world with his high tenor voice, impeccable timing, and profound sense of lyric. Never resting on his laurels, Smokey Robinson remains a beloved icon in our musical heritage.
