Event Details

Sonya’s presence on the stage can only be outshone by her interactions with those who she knows and loves. She has the ability to naturally attract the attention of all around her, both on and off the stage, and this is a major reason why people have and continue to invest and believe her to be a great success. One of the biggest things that sets her apart from other performers is that she has written and produced her album of extremely original music herself. It cannot be compared to any current or past artist and it contains work from the worlds best studio musicians and engineers. The muse of creativity has helped her to be both a fabulous performer, and a very talented writer at the same time. This is a trait that seems to have been lost over the years, yet has naturally found its place in her.

Sonya Rome was born January 25 in Anaheim, CA and started singing in talent shows and starring in plays at a young age. Sonya sang in the choir, and was a cheerleader in high school. In college, Sonya participated in Shakespeare plays and guest starred on various TV, Film, and Commercial productions before moving to New York in 2011 to attend the NYU Tisch program of Theatre Arts with the Stella Adler studio, and to audition through AEA on the Broadway circuit. It was then Sonya realized that if she could sing, her chances for booking would greatly increase. As a result, she started taking voice and piano lessons along with writing her own music from a journal that she had been keeping. Sonya started singing at the Duplex in NYC as a cabaret act and shortly following started to perform at legendary venues such as The Bitter End and the surrounding clubs which the West Village had to offer. Upon working on a homemade two song demo, she had met a Broadway producer, Forbes Candlish, at the opening of the Broadway play and with great interest he sent her back to LA to work in the studio on these demos, which inevitably turned into a full length album from a body of work saved over time along with new songs written especially for this album. During the recording of this album, Sonya worked alongside Forbes on a broadway show and attended Juilliard before moving back to LA to finish the recordings at Capitol and Agoura Borealis studios.

She has recently performed at various venues in LA in the last year such as her residency this summer as a jazz act at Barrique in Venice, Harlow, Fox and Hounds, Harvelles, Hotel Cafe, the Mint, and the next concert is set for 3.23.17 @ The Canyon Club in Agoura.
